Starting as a member of the estate team and tending to the indigenous garden, Beauty knew that her Ellerman House career would be long and varied. Constantly striving to learn more and go the extra mile, she now finds herself as the Housekeeping Manager. Beauty by name and beautiful by demeanor, let us introduce to you, Beauty Tshangela.
What is your motto? I live by a beautiful Xhosa hymn called “Bawo Xa Ndilahlekayo”. Translation: Lord when I am lost, let your will be done.
What do you consider your greatest achievement to be? Firstly, my children (I have a little boy and girl), who inspire me every day. Secondly, being a manager at such a well-respected, luxury hotel.
What do you love about Cape Town? Cape Town has an atmosphere and vibe like no other. We are always having a good time here!
What is your favourite hidden gem? My home – it’s my escape.
Where did you grow up? I grew up in Umhlanga, which is a town in Durban. Durban is in Kwazulu Natal, on the east side of South Africa.
What do you aspire to learn more about? Art! I have developed a love for art while working at Ellerman House. I love learning about the different works and their meanings. My goal is to learn enough about the artworks to discuss them with the guests and share the stories.
Why do you love working at Ellerman House? I like that Ellerman House operates like a private home and not like a big hotel.
What is your favourite spot at Ellerman House? Villa 1 – The rooms are fabulous and the views are even better!
What do you think makes Ellerman House the best hotel in the world? The standard of service we provide. It cannot be copied.
