Meet Chantelle Maritz, or Tilly as she’s fondly known amongst the team. Born and bred in Cape Town, she recently returned to her hometown after working in the bush at Singita, joining Ellerman House as a Duty Manager in June. Wherever she is, Chantelle is inspired by living life with a purpose.

What is your motto? “You are allowed to be both a masterpiece and a work in progress, simultaneously” – Sophia Bush.

What do you love most about Cape Town? Being close to the ocean.

Your perfect day off in Cape Town? Being out and about in Cape Town’s natural environment. It showcases some of the most diverse surroundings in the world. (Possibly with a glass of wine in hand!).

What could you never do without? My music.

What do you aspire to learn more about? Since returning to the city and working at Ellerman House, I have tapped into a new interest – Art. I hope to learn and take in as much as I can. Especially as it has so much to do with our history and how we define the future.

Why do you love working at Ellerman House? Because of its strong values and its passion to represent the very best of South Africa, yet always with a humble heart.

What do you value most in your colleagues? That we all share the same end goal – to strive for success in every way by caring for our wonderful guests like they’re family. It really does feel like a home.

What is your favourite spot at Ellerman House? The Pantry (haha). I do love standing on the middle terrace. You have a breathtaking view of most of the grounds and it’s also the passageway to all the special touch points of the hotel.
